Advocacy
“From these considerations therefore it is plain that music has the power of producing a certain effect on the ethos of the soul, and if it has the power to do this, it is clear that the young must be directed to music and must be educated in it.”
- Aristotle, Politics
Advocacy is all of our responsibility. In these troubling economic times with more cuts than ever for music education, we need to be educating our administrators, school board members, parents and the general public of the need of music education. For Future Music Educators, this is something that we will certainly need to do when we enter the work force, but there are many things we can be doing now to help those currently teaching, and for those who will be teaching music in the future. Feel free to use these resources to advocate for your music programs!
